Huasca de Ocampo

Less than 2 hours from Mexico City is the charming town of Huasca de Ocampo, a place where tranquility and peace are a thing of everyday, so much so that its name in Nahuatl means "place of delight and joy". This place is home to many of the benefit haciendas founded by Romero de Terrero, Count of Regla, who was the richest man of his time. This peaceful town is home to many ecotourism activities as well as the famous Basaltic Prisms: very particular rock formations that exist in very few parts of the world, which you can admire either from a suspended bridge 40m height or from the bottom of the lake. Another of the attractions of Huasca is the Museo de los Duendes (Museum of the Elves), as it is believed that these mythical beings live in the town and its surroundings. This Magical Town offers many charms and constant fun for those who want to enjoy nature, take a hot air balloon ride, jump on a zip line, or take an afternoon to catch a good rainbow trout!
