Tequila, Jalisco

The legendary town of Tequila in Jalisco is known for giving its name to the famous spirit and hosts an annual average temperature of 73 F. One of Tequila’s main attractions is the factory of the renowned brand José Cuervo, which you can reach by train from one of Mexico’s largest cities, Guadalajara, on the ‘José Cuervo Express.’ You will pass through the agave fields and, once in the town of Tequila, you will sample the different strengths of tequila produced by this “Maestro Tequilero.” In July 2006, UNESCO declared this region as a World Site Heritage due to the landscapes of blue agaves that decorate its hills. If you visit Tequila at the beginning of December, you can also help celebrate the National Tequila Fair, where the country’s main houses show their products and demonstrate the different processes to advance this spirit. During the festival you can also enjoy other cultural activities such as listening to Mariachi bands, also a significant part of the state’s culture and as well as ‘charreria’ (similar to rodeo). The town is also within driving distance to the beautiful beaches of Puerto Vallarta.
